Three arrested in plot to rob gold store owner
Three people are under arrest and one of them was shot while trying to commit a robbery, police said.
Fort Lauderdale police said Marvin Broadway, Carlton Lowe and Taylor Miller tried to rob the owner of Gold Buyers near 5130 N. Federal Highway at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Broadway and Lowe donned ski masks and were armed when they tried to rob Oleg Flyaster behind the store. The suspects demanded Flyaster's wallet. Flyaster said he pretended to pull out the wallet, but instead, pulled out a gun and shot at the robbers. Broadway, 23, was hit in the shoulder, according to police. Police later found Broadway nearby, bloodied and wearing only boxer shorts. He claimed he had been robbed, but police said that was not the case.
Miller, 19, had remained in the car as the getaway driver, investigators said.
Broadway and Lowe, 22, face charges of armed robbery and wearing a mask while committing a felony.
A Broward judge ruled $175,000 bond for Broadway, $60,000 for Lowe and $40,000 for Miller on Wednesday.
